Lutheran Campus Ministries

LCM History

Lutheran Campus Ministry began in the 1950s as a way to connect with students, especially those who came to ISU on the GI Bill. LCM began meeting at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames before it moved into its own space in a storefront in campus town. Soon after, the building in which we are currently housed was built. The first part to be built was what is now the basement, where students came to worship together in the fellowship space as well as spend time meeting with friends or studying. The main worship space we currently enjoy was built in the 1970s using the plans of an architect who was a student involved in Campus Ministry in the 1950s.
